Sleep Study - In Home Level 2
BULK BILLING PENSION/CONCESSION CARD HOLDERS FOR SLEEP STUDIES
Referring patients for a home sleep study can provide several benefits, including the convenience of testing in the patient's own home, the ability to monitor sleep in a natural environment, and the potential for earlier detection and treatment of sleep disorders. Home sleep studies can also be more cost-effective than in-lab testing, making them a more accessible option for many patients. By identifying and addressing sleep disorders, patients can improve their overall health and quality of life, and may also reduce their risk of developing other health conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Level 1 and level 2 sleep studies are similar in terms of monitoring and testing capabilities, with the exception that a level 1 study only takes place in a sleep lab and is always observed in real-time by a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). The main difference between the two is that a level 1 study is able to diagnose REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder.
Level 3 studies performed by a pharmacy offer only basic information such as oxygen saturation, airflow and heart rate.
